The first day of April turns my thoughts to spring flowers, summer gardens and patios. But what if you don’t have a green thumb, like me? What if you travel and can’t always be home to water plants when the weather turns hot? Maybe you would simply like to use less water?
Is it possible to create an enticing outdoor patio or balcony area without a garden or lots of plants? This is not an April Fool’s joke 😉
Here are some ideas using a couple of potted plants or succulents or dried arrangements. Note the addition of one or two large, old lanterns as well. Consider a stone water fountain, or a brass or terracotta pot of tall bamboo stalks or tall dried curly willow. Fool or trick your eye into seeing a garden without the greens!
In the balcony above I would replace most of the lavender pots with a lantern and perhaps one or two pots of various kinds of mint or herbs for tea. But the crates and rug are nice additions. Stackable and folding chairs or tables can be used outside and in.
Don’t forget succulents. Pot them and forget them. They rarely need water.
Just some possibilities.
